About

Donna R. Turner, PhD (ABD) EDS, MPH, CHES, HSMI, CDVA

There’s an old African adage that says: “It takes a village to raise a child.” Today, that “village” spans the entire world…  and this time, the “child” in need isn’t a toddler—it’s a powerful idea, nearly fully grown, ready to protect the lives of millions of women and unborn babies.

HI!

I’m Donna René—mother of two, grandmother of two, educator, and Public Health professional. I’m nationally certified as a Health Education Specialist, a Domestic Violence Advocate, and a Holistic Stress Management Instructor. My work isn’t clinical like a doctor or nurse, but it’s just as vital: I focus on prevention, population health, and empowering people with the tools and knowledge to live well—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I love reading scientific research—especially studies that explore how relationships, hormones, stress, and behavior impact health. My goal is always the same: to find real answers and share practical, science-backed insights that help people avoid everything from the flu… to heartbreak.

Right now, I’m completing my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Regent University. I had hoped to finish in December, 2024, but like most meaningful journeys, this one has taken a little longer. 2025 is looking promising.

How It All Started

While working on my master’s, I began researching a topic I couldn’t ignore: the emotional and physical cost of incomplete sex education—especially for women. Most specifically, I wanted to know the truth about HPV.  I spent years digging into what schools don’t teach, what scientists do know, and what women desperately need to understand to form healthy, loving relationships.

I wrote a quick-read eBook that bridges the gap between school-based Sex Ed and real-life intimacy. That eBook earned the maximum 30 Continuing Education Credits from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) in 2020. I later adapted it into a powerful audiovisual to make its message more accessible titled: “Truth Talk: The Last Dating Advice You’ll Ever Need.” Both are now available for immediate download on this site.

The Invention That Could Save Lives

Then something bigger emerged from my research: a simple, at-home device that could help prevent cervical cancer and miscarriage.  As of March 14, 2025, that invention is officially patent pending.

When I shared my idea with an angel investor, he said something that stopped me in my tracks. After I told him that Purdue Innovates—where I had an initial meeting—had a queue of over 400 applicants and offered no guarantees except that they would require 100% ownership of my patent if they moved forward, he said:

“That’s what anyone would do. It could cost anywhere from $3 million to $300 million to get your invention from where it is, to the women who need it.”

Then he added something harder to hear:

“98% of the funding for innovations like this goes to White men. The remaining 2%? That’s divided between White women, Asians, Hispanics, and Blacks. So realistically, your chances of getting full funding are… next to nothing.”

I didn’t want to believe that. So I looked it up.

According to McKinsey & Company, one of the world’s leading business research firms, Black women received just 0.1% of venture capital in 2022. That’s not a typo. Just—0.1%.  Click the link…  Read it for yourself here.

Why I’m Asking for Your Help

For a moment, I thought maybe I should give up ownership—just to get this product out into the world. But then I had a chilling thought:

What if I hand this over, and someone takes a huge check from Big Pharma to bury it?

Let’s be honest—preventing cervical cancer and miscarriage doesn’t exactly boost pharmaceutical profits. That’s when I knew: if this is ever going to make it into the hands of women around the world, I need to raise the funds myself.

I don’t have a team. I don’t have a social media following. I’m just one person with a vision—and a product that could save countless lives and heartbreaks. And that’s why I’m turning to you.
