Alkalize: What Does it Mean?
Alkalinity Defined
The words alkaline and acidic are used to express a certain health condition of your body. More simply put, are you in good health (alkaline) or poor, (acidic)?
When your body is too acidic (below pH 7), it can develop an almost endless number of illnesses, diseases, aches and pains. Many cancer patients have a pH of 4.7 or lower, for example.
However, when the body is in a more basic state (7.2+), it will be much healthier. A pH of 7 is neutral. It is neither acidic nor alkaline. When you alkalize, you turn your acidic state into a more basic state, which leads to better overall health.
The average healthy person has a PH of 6.8, which is slightly acidic. This simply means that if they catch a cold or flu, for example, they will recover within a reasonable amount of time.
It has been said that when the body is in an alkaline state, it cannot get sick, because the bacteria and viruses that cause illness cannot live in alkaline conditions. Nobel Prize winner Dr. Otto Warburg certainly agreed with this statement. His findings are still being used and studied today.
How to Test Your pH
The best and most accurate way to test your pH is to have your blood drawn and tested. However, because this test is done by drawing blood from your wrist and is more painful than drawing blood from a vein in the arm, I suggest using litmus paper to test your saliva or urine.
How to Test Your Urine
To test your urine, simply collect your urine in a container and quickly dip a strip of litmus paper into it, and take it out. You will immediately see the paper change colors.
Compare the color on the dipped litmus paper to the color guide on litmus paper you purchased. This will give you a good idea of what your pH was when you ate and drank the foods you did, in order to make that urine.
If the paper does not change colors, then this is an indication that your body is highly acidic; too acidic to measure with the paper you purchased.
How to Test Your Saliva
To test your saliva, simply allow spittle to gather into your mouth, and then spit it out carefully into a spoon or other container. Then dip the litmus paper into the spittle and wait a second or two for the color to change.
Compare the dipped litmus paper to the color guide. This will give you a good idea of what your pH is currently. To get the most accurate result, it is important that you do this test at least two hours before or after you eat or drink anything.
It is easiest to do this when you first wake up in the morning, before you brush your teeth, or eat your breakfast. Again, if the paper does not change colors, then this is an indication that your body is highly acidic.
How to Alkalize
There are many ways to alkalize your body; most of them involve some type of food in the form of vegetables and fruits. Oxygen alkalizes the body, and is the single most important natural element to heal the body and keep it healthy. Deep breathing is essential, as well as free of costs. Aerobic exercise forces the body to breathe deeply, and it is the extra oxygen from this deep breathing that the body uses to heal itself, and burn excess fat.
In addition to oxygen, the fastest way to alkalize the body that I have found, is by ingesting a combination of baking soda and grade B maple syrup*. I suggest grade B for the many nutrients it has been known to have, but the important thing is to emulsify the two ingredients first. Your cells love sugar, but won’t want to accept the baking soda, which is the alkalizing ingredient. When the two are emulsified, your cells must accept the baking soda in order to get to the sugar.
Warnings
Although it is not easy to become too alkaline, too much alkalization can be as harmful to your body as too much acidity. 8.0 is the optimum level of alkalinity for the body. At this level, the body is in constant repair. Above this level, and you begin to do damage.
*The relabeling of maple syrup has made it difficult if not impossible to find grade B. Robust may now be the closest to what used to be called grade B. Please do your due diligence to research the new labeling.
