Candida and Weight Loss
Candida and Weight Loss
Candida albicans is one of the most common of the more than 20 different species of Candida yeasts found naturally in the human gut. While it is normal and healthy to have it, problems occur when there is an overgrowth, and the yeast enters the bloodstream and travels to other parts of your body. When the overgrowth makes its way to the vaginal area, for example, it’s commonly called a yeast infection. Recent studies have revealed that candida albicans may play a role in Alzheimer’s disease, as this yeast has been found in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients.
How Candida Affects Weight Loss
An overgrowth of candida can inhibit your weight loss efforts due to the cravings it can cause in response to the yeast getting hungry. Keep in mind that yeast is a living organism that breathes and must be fed in order to keep living; just like you! Candida thrives on sugar and can turn you into a “junk food junkie;” if you weren’t one already.
Remember: chips are also sugar. That is, chips of all sorts are made of carbohydrates, which breaks down into a form of sugar after eating. Candida loves sugar; the more simple, the better, and can cause cravings that urge you to eat more chips, cookies, ice cream, pasta, etc. The more you feed it, the more it multiplies. Once it gets too crowded in the gut, it will seek more space, and venture out into other parts of the body.
How to Kill Excess Candida
Getting rid of excess candida is fairly simple. Like any living organism, if you stop feeding it long enough, it will die. But if you’d like to speed the process along and save your sanity at the same time, there are a couple of things you can do: Garlic will kill excess candida naturally, if you take enough of it.
Of course, even odorless garlic can have an unpleasant odor when the smell oozes through the pores of your skin, or from your mouth, if it causes you to burp. Besides, what makes garlic stinky is also what makes it effective for a number of health remedies. Therefore, you might want to consider the next option.
I got rid of my excess candida by taking a natural supplement called caprylic acid. For me, one of the best things about using caprylic acid was that it was “painless.” That is, I didn’t make a concerted effort to stop eating my favorite junk foods.
I continued to eat whatever I wanted, as often as I wanted. I took it in therapeutic doses, which means that I took much more than what was recommended on the bottle. I took three of them, three times a day, and was blown away when, less than three weeks later, I caught myself putting my favorite chips back into the cupboard after eating only three!
Who does that? I certainly had never done that before. I was also shocked to discover that my favorite strawberry ice cream was no longer something I couldn’t live without! It is recommended that caprylic acid be taken for about six months for best results. I must say however, that I only took it for less than a month nearly 20 years ago, and have never needed it again.
Taking caprylic acid does not cause you to lose weight. In other words, it is not a weight loss pill. It simply kills off the excess yeast that urges you to consume sugar-foods that sabotage your weight loss efforts.
